For now, my brand new Echo dot sadly seems destined to be useless. After I got my Amazon dot,I received an email on kindle fire to set up my dot. I opened it while near my Echo Show with the microphone off. I had many problems trying to get the app to recognize me, so I went on my Chrome laptop. I had the same problems. At one point I had to enter my cell phone number. Then my cell phone rang and a man with an accent said he would help me with connecting my Dot.
I was told to go to the app store on my kindle fire and find the Alexa app. Nothing seemed to be happening, so I told him I was hanging up, and I did. While I was sitting there I saw a blue circle on my Dot, so I asked Alexa for the weather, and she told me. I took the Dot to the kitchen away from the Echo Show, and plugged it in,and asked it a question,and it answered.
